Former Prime Gear and The Grand Tour host Jeremy Clarkson has provided a sometimes tongue-in-cheek response to the historic all-British podium on the 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
Seven-time System 1 champion Lewis Hamilton secured his first grand prix win as a Ferrari driver in Barcelona after pulling off a three-stop technique to grow to be the primary non-Mercedes driver to win a grand prix this season. Hamilton was joined on the rostrum by fellow countrymen George Russell in second and Lando Norris in third.Â
The trio shaped the primary all-British podium since 1968, when Sir Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill and John Surtees accomplished the rostrum at the US Grand Prix.Â
“Nice to see three Brits on the rostrum in Barcelona,” the previous Prime Gear host wrote on X following the race. Clarkson, whose personal Oxfordshire-brewed Hawkstone lager has grow to be wildly profitable, couldn’t resist including: “Only a disgrace the winner was sponsored by an Italian beer,” referring to Ferrari’s partnership with Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0%.
Clarkson later posted: “At some point, I hope Hawkstone is large enough to sponsor an F1 staff. However which one?”
Â
Norris and Russell had been requested concerning the British podium milestone in the course of the post-race press convention. “To share the rostrum with him [Hamilton] after which with George, to have three Brits up there. The primary time since 1968. Fairly particular, fairly cool for us to symbolize our nation that approach,” the McLaren driver stated.
Russell, who partnered Hamilton at Mercedes from 2022 to the top of 2024, added: “To be standing up right here, three Brits, first time in 60 years, it is a particular feeling.”
Hamilton now sits 41 factors behind championship chief Kimi Antonelli and 9 factors forward of Russell in third within the standings.
The following race would be the Austrian Grand Prix from 26 to twenty-eight June.
