The Components 1 paddock has arrived in Spain for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, and former F1 driver David Coulthard has backed George Russell for a comeback this weekend after a string of dangerous luck and poor outcomes.
Whereas Russell gained the season-opening Australian Grand Prix and the Chinese language dash race, he has watched his 19-year-old team-mate Kimi Antonelli lengthen his lead within the drivers’ championship with 5 consecutive grand prix victories. That might all be about to vary if Coulthard is proved to be proper.
Talking on the Up To Velocity podcast, Coulthard defined: “I feel it should be George’s comeback. George goes to be profitable in Barcelona, and he’ll come out swinging, and it should be like Rocky 3.”
Former F1 TV presenter and co-host of the Up To Velocity podcast Will Buxton disagreed with Coulthard, arguing that Antonelli will probably have fun his sixth win of the season in Barcelona.
“Kimi for the win. Kimi six in a row. He’s respiration rarefied air. There’s a looseness, a pleasure, only a oneness that Kimi has in the mean time that I feel goes to be actually, actually arduous for anyone to topple,” Buxton argued.

“He is received nearly twice the factors of his team-mate heading into Barcelona. You do not drive the best way that Kimi drove at Monaco except you’re in a really, very snug place.”
The on-track motion for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix will start on Friday 12 June with the primary two apply periods. Heading into the race, Antonelli leads the drivers’ championship with 156 factors. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton follows in second with 90 factors, and Russell sits third with 88 factors.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri full the highest 5 with 75 and 60 factors, respectively.
