Seven-time world champion has been cleared of allegedly impeding in Canadian Grand Prix qualifying, which suggests the driver retains his fifth place on the beginning grid.
Hamilton made a visit to the FIA race stewards one hour after qualifying for allegedly blocking driver Gasly on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. On his first flying lap in Q1, Gasly encountered Hamilton – who was on an outlap – on the run all the way down to Flip 8. Hamilton appeared unaware of Gasly approaching as he weaved to heat up the tyres. Explaining the incident to the stewards, Hamilton mentioned that each he and his Ferrari staff did not suppose Gasly was on a flying lap. And since the incident did not change Gasly’s Q1 end result, with the Frenchman advancing to Q2, they did not really feel aggrieved by Hamilton’s actions. “The motive force of Automotive 44 defined that he was underneath the impression that Automotive 10 was not on a push lap, and his staff confirmed that it had the identical opinion.
