Three-time W Sequence champion and Sky Sports activities System 1 pundit Jamie Chadwick believes Kimi Antonelli might be left feeling annoyed after being narrowly crushed to pole place by his team-mate throughout qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Because the clock ticked all the way down to zero in qualifying at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Antonelli appeared set to take pole place for Sunday’s race with a time of 1:12.646.

However his skilled team-mate, who had already gained the dash race earlier on Saturday, knocked him off the highest spot on the final second with a time of 1:12.578.
“I don’t assume George Russell was anticipating pole place,” Chadwick advised Sky Sports activities F1 after the qualifying session. “That entire session was horrible for him. He appeared to have a problem, and Kimi Antonelli had a giant benefit.
“It was solely actually the final lap when it got here to him, so I’m positive there’s a sense of aid and elation. Any time a sportsperson performs or bounces again underneath strain it has double the impact.

“It appeared like anybody may very well be up for pole for the entire session – was up there at one level – after which ultimately it sorted itself out and we had the order it must be.”

She added: “Kimi might be a bit annoyed. He was so robust all through the session. I feel he has had extra constant tempo than George all through this weekend and that’s going to be necessary for him within the race.

“George appeared to have put a lap in when he wanted to, however Kimi seems like he had the lap in him simpler in that session.”
Whereas the Mercedes’ drivers will take up the entrance row on the Canadian Grand Prix beginning grid, McLaren’s and will begin from third and fourth on the grid, with Ferrari’s rounding out the highest 5.
