McLaren Formulation 1 driver Lando Norris has unveiled a poignant helmet design for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, teaming up with the Race Towards Dementia charity.

The helmet leaves the Briton’s conventional fluorescent yellow design behind, as a substitute adopting a cut up design, developed with Race Towards Dementia Fellow Dr Maura Malpetti. One half of the helmet represents the advanced community of a wholesome human mind, whereas the opposite facet illustrates a mind deteriorating by way of synaptic loss and the devastating bodily actuality of dementia.

“Actually happy with this one,” Norris wrote on Instagram. “I’ve teamed up with the wonderful charity Race Towards Dementia for my helmet this weekend in Canada.

“Race Towards Dementia was based by the legend that’s Sir Jackie Stewart. Listening to him discuss how dementia has impacted his spouse Helen and their household opened my eyes to only how many individuals this impacts. 55 million individuals worldwide live with it and each few seconds one other individual is identified. I needed to play my half in elevating consciousness and becoming a member of Race Towards Dementia’s combat to discover a remedy.

“The design is in two halves. One facet exhibits a wholesome mind and the opposite facet exhibits a mind affected by synaptic loss. We’re making mini helmets with all income going on to Race Towards Dementia. You may get them from lando.retailer

“Excited to put on it this weekend. Take a look at Race Towards Dementia to be taught extra about their unbelievable work.”

Race Towards Dementia was established by three-time F1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart in 2016, following the analysis of his spouse, Woman Helen Stewart. Because it was based, the charity has invested greater than £20million in dementia analysis, supporting groups throughout the UK, US, Europe, South Africa and Australia, in response to the official web site.

“Racing helmets have performed a big half in my life,” Stewart mentioned. “Nonetheless, none of my helmets had been designed with such a severe message connected to them.

“Lando and Maura have discovered a option to categorical some very difficult concepts with actual creativeness and persona. I’m grateful to Lando for embracing Race Towards Dementia with such enthusiasm.”

Norris will put on the helmet designed with Race Towards Dementia throughout the Canadian Grand Prix weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve from 22-24 Could.
