Hendrick Automotive Group inked a $2.25 million contract with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in August.
The story was first reported by The Washington Submit with a follow-up report this week by Charlotte, North Carolina tv station WBTV. In response to the contract, the settlement was for the sale of 25 Chevrolet Tahoes.
Hendrick Automotive Group is owned by NASCAR staff proprietor Rick Hendrick. In a press release supplied to WBTV, Hendrick Automotive mentioned it has entered into related authorities contracts for years and for a number of political events.
“Earlier this 12 months, we bought 25 normal Chevrolet Tahoes to the federal authorities,” the assertion learn. “The automobiles had been unmodified, and we fulfilled the business sale. We don’t take part in or management how businesses equip, model, or use automobiles after buy.”
Hendrick Automotive earned the contract as a consequence of its potential to instantly produce the stock wanted by ICE based on the contract between the 2.
“The company’s want for the providers is so pressing and compelling that offering full and open competitors would end in unacceptable delays and critically hinder the Authorities’s recruiting initiative.
“Urgency is warranted as these automobiles have to be deployed to the streets instantly to supply a visual regulation enforcement presence, assist public security operations, and reinforce recruitment efforts.”
It is a topical story as a result of ICE started a border patrol and enforcement operation inside the state and within the Charlotte space over the weekend. It isn’t clear if the automobiles bought from Hendrick Automotive Group had been used within the operation.
