British racer Oliver Bearman slammed the FIA after his quickest lap in qualifying for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix was deleted attributable to a late pink flag within the session. The Haas driver says he wasn’t notified of the pink flag till “fairly a means after I crossed the road”.
Qualifying for F1’s Imola GP was hit by two pink flags within the first session. An preliminary stoppage got here when Crimson Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda hit the wall and a second pink flag fell following a violent crash from newly promoted Alpine driver Franco Colapinto.
The Argentine’s crash ended the primary session, however Haas driver Bearman was on a quick lap because the pink flags flew.
The British driver claims he wasn’t notified of the pink flags till after he crossed the road, which might usually have meant that his lap stood. Nevertheless, the FIA dominated that the flags fell earlier than Bearman completed the lap, so it wouldn’t depend in the direction of the session.

“So, I consider it’s very unfair to have [the lap] deleted. I really feel like as soon as they decide, even when it is mistaken – even when it is clearly mistaken – they don’t seem to be going to show again on it. And that appears a bit harsh.”
The decision meant that Bearman missed out on an opportunity to maneuver up the order and, doubtlessly, into Q2 forward of the Imola GP.
The Haas staff tried to argue Bearman’s case, which led to an sudden delay to the beginning of Q2 in Italy. Nevertheless, the stewards didn’t again down on their resolution.
“Sadly, we’re final now,” he added.
“It is issues like that… we work and we make investments a lot. We’ve got a brand new package deal this weekend, and this has been months and months within the pipeline.
